Trump Administration Plans to Send Border Patrol to Charlotte and New Orleans
By The Vagabond News | November 12, 2025
In a controversial move, the Trump Administration has decided to deploy U.S. Border Patrol units to Charlotte, North Carolina, and New Orleans, Louisiana, extending federal immigration enforcement beyond the nation’s southern border.
According to senior officials at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the decision aims to “strengthen cooperation with local law enforcement” and “address rising undocumented migration” across key U.S. metro regions.
Local leaders and immigrant rights groups have criticized the move, calling it “an act of intimidation against immigrant communities.” Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles said the deployment was “unnecessary and politically motivated,” while New Orleans activists pledged legal action to block it.
DHS spokesperson Ken Cuccinelli defended the plan, stating that the deployments are part of a “broader federal enforcement mission” and will not interfere with local police duties.
The units—part of the Border Patrol Tactical Unit (BORTAC)—are expected to begin operations in both cities within two weeks. Similar redeployments to Atlanta, Houston, and Miami are reportedly under consideration.
