RSS, DSS Seek Permission to Hold March on November 4 in Karnataka

BENGALURU — The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Dalit Sangharsh Samiti (DSS) have both sought permission from the Karnataka police to conduct separate marches across the state on November 4, setting the stage for a potentially sensitive day in the region’s public order calendar.

Authorities on Alert

According to official sources, both organizations have submitted requests to hold rallies in multiple districts, including Bengaluru, Mysuru, and Belagavi. The police are reportedly reviewing the proposals with extra caution, given the possibility of overlapping routes and large gatherings.

Senior officials in the Home Department said the government is closely monitoring developments. “Both groups have applied for permission through the proper channels. We are assessing the situation and will take a decision keeping law and order as the top priority,” said a senior police officer.

Background and Political Sensitivity

The RSS march is being organized to mark its annual ‘Path Sanchalan’ — a show of discipline and unity. Meanwhile, the DSS rally aims to highlight issues of caste discrimination and social justice.
Political observers note that the simultaneous mobilization of both groups could raise communal or caste tensions in certain areas, prompting authorities to consider imposing Section 144 if needed.

Government Response

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has reportedly instructed the police to ensure that no untoward incidents occur. “The right to assemble must be balanced with the responsibility to maintain harmony,” a government spokesperson told The Vagabond News.

As of Monday evening, no final decision had been announced on whether permissions would be granted. Both organizations, however, have assured that their rallies will be peaceful and disciplined.
