The father of a Hyderabad woman who was found dead in her apartment in the United States has strongly disputed early narratives surrounding the case, rejecting claims that the accused was his daughter’s ex-boyfriend and alleging that financial disputes, not a personal relationship, lay at the heart of the crime.

Speaking to Indian media, the grieving father outlined five key claims that he says contradict initial reports and raise serious questions about the circumstances leading to his daughter’s death. The case has sparked outrage both in India and among the Indian diaspora in the U.S., with calls for a thorough and transparent investigation.

Claim 1: “He Was Not Her Ex-Boyfriend”

The father categorically denied reports suggesting that the accused was his daughter’s former romantic partner. “There was no relationship,” he said, adding that the portrayal of the accused as an ex-boyfriend was misleading and had unfairly shifted the narrative of the case.

He insisted that framing the crime as a personal dispute obscures what he believes was a financially motivated act.

Claim 2: Accused Had Taken Loans From His Daughter

According to the family, the accused had borrowed money from the victim and was under pressure to repay the loans. The father alleged that repeated demands for repayment may have led to escalating tension between the two.

“She trusted him and helped him financially,” he said. “When she asked for her money back, problems started.”

Investigators have not yet publicly confirmed the nature or amount of the alleged loans.

Claim 3: Financial Pressure Led to the Crime

The father claimed that the accused was facing financial distress and may have acted out of desperation. He urged investigators to examine bank records, money transfers, and communication logs to establish a clear financial trail.

Legal experts say that if substantiated, financial motive could significantly alter the direction of the prosecution’s case.

Claim 4: Warning Signs Were Ignored

The family alleged that the woman had expressed concerns about the accused’s behaviour before her death, but these were not taken seriously. The father said his daughter had told relatives that she felt uneasy and was being harassed over money-related issues.

He called on authorities to examine whether earlier complaints or warning signs were overlooked.

Claim 5: Justice Must Go Beyond Arrest

While welcoming the arrest of the accused, the father stressed that justice would not be served by swift conclusions or incomplete investigations. He demanded that U.S. authorities pursue the case to its logical end, ensuring that all evidence—financial, digital, and forensic—is fully examined.

“This is not about headlines,” he said. “It’s about the truth and accountability.”

Case Status

U.S. police have confirmed that the woman was found dead with signs of violence inside her apartment. The accused has been taken into custody, and charges are expected to follow based on the outcome of forensic and financial investigations.

Indian authorities, including officials from Hyderabad, said they are in touch with U.S. law enforcement and the Indian consulate to provide assistance to the family.

A Family’s Appeal

As the investigation continues, the family has appealed for restraint and accuracy in reporting, urging media outlets not to speculate or simplify the case.

Their demands reflect a broader concern shared by many families of Indian nationals abroad—that justice must be thorough, impartial, and free from premature conclusions.
