Jimmies men’s soccer beats Minnesota Morris 4-3 on the road

Sep. 4—MORRIS, Minn. — The University of Jamestown mounted a second half comeback to get a 4-3 win over the University of Minnesota Morris on Thursday, Sept. 4, at the Cougars’ Cougar Field.

The Cougars (1-1) got off to a fast start when Jake Anargyros scored 1:25 into the game to give his team a 1-0 lead. The hosts added another goal in the 26th minute when Aaron Mackall scored to push the lead out to 2-0.

The Jimmies (1-0) were able to get off the snide in the 30th minute when Jake Simson scored to bring the deficit to within one goal at 2-1. Later in the opening half, Simson scored his second goal of the day to knot the score up at two.

Early in the second half, the Cougars were able to reclaim the lead at 3-2 before Simson completed the hat trick to once again tie the game up at 3 in the 67th minute. Simson’s hat trick is the first by a Jimmie since Austin Shafer potted three goals in a 5-3 win over Mount Marty on Oct. 12, 2022. The score stayed that way until the 82nd minute when the Jimmies’ Greg Semsarian scored his first collegiate goal to give the Jimmies the one-goal win.

The Jimmies are back in action at noon on Saturday, Sept. 6, when they go to South Dakota Mines.
