Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday reiterated that the Ram Temple in Ayodhya is permanent and that the Babri Masjid “will not be rebuilt till eternity,” restating his government’s position on the decades-old dispute that culminated in the construction of the temple.

Speaking at a public interaction, Adityanath said the Ram Temple represents the fulfillment of a long-standing cultural and religious aspiration and asserted that there is no scope for reversing the outcome. His remarks restated positions he has expressed previously and were not accompanied by any new policy announcement.

Statement Reiterates Existing Position

According to the chief minister, the issue stands settled and the temple’s presence in Ayodhya reflects a conclusion reached through legal and constitutional processes. He did not reference any fresh legal steps or administrative actions during the remarks.

The statement reiterates the position taken by the Uttar Pradesh government since the inauguration of the Ram Temple, emphasizing continuity rather than change. No official government order or notification accompanied the comments.

Legal Background

The dispute over the Babri Masjid–Ram Janmabhoomi site was resolved by the Supreme Court of India in November 2019. The court awarded the disputed land for the construction of a Ram temple while directing that an alternative five-acre plot be allotted elsewhere in Ayodhya for the construction of a mosque.

Construction of the Ram Temple has since progressed under a trust constituted in accordance with the court’s directions. The mosque is to be built at the alternative site allotted as part of the judgment.

Political and Public Context

Adityanath’s remarks come amid continued political discussion around Ayodhya and the symbolism of the Ram Temple in public life. Supporters view the project as a historic milestone, while critics argue that such statements can deepen social divisions.

Opposition parties did not issue an immediate formal response to the comments. There was also no reaction from the mosque trust or organizations associated with the alternative site at the time of publication.

What Is Confirmed — and What Is Not

It is confirmed that the Uttar Pradesh chief minister publicly stated that the Babri Masjid will not be rebuilt and reaffirmed the permanence of the Ram Temple. It is also confirmed that his remarks align with the 2019 Supreme Court verdict and the existing legal framework.

What has not been announced is any new legal or administrative action related to the Ayodhya site. There is no indication of changes to the implementation of the court’s directions regarding the alternative land allotted for a mosque.
