GHAZIABAD, Uttar Pradesh — As investigators continue probing the deaths of three sisters in Ghaziabad, an older case involving the suicide of their father’s live-in partner in 2015 has resurfaced, adding a new layer of scrutiny to the family’s history. Police officials stressed that the earlier incident is being revisited as part of routine background verification and that no direct link has been established so far between the two cases.

The renewed attention to the 2015 case comes amid intense public focus following the deaths of the three sisters, who allegedly jumped from a ninth-floor apartment earlier this week.

According to police records, the woman who was in a live-in relationship with the girls’ father died by suicide in 2015. At the time, a case was registered and investigated by local police. Officials familiar with the file said the inquiry concluded with no evidence of foul play, and no charges were filed.

Police sources confirmed that the case was closed years ago and has not been reopened formally. However, investigators reviewing the sisters’ deaths accessed the old records to better understand the family background.

The three sisters were found dead after falling from a high-rise building in Ghaziabad’s Crossings Republik area. Police recovered a brief handwritten note from the apartment reading, “Mummy Papa sorry,” and have said there was no immediate indication of third-party involvement.

Investigators are examining multiple angles, including mental health, family environment, and digital activity. Mobile phones and other electronic devices belonging to the sisters have been sent for forensic analysis.

Officials said statements from parents, relatives, neighbours, and school authorities are being recorded, and post-mortem reports are awaited.

Police Urge Caution

Senior police officers have urged restraint and warned against drawing conclusions based on the resurfacing of the 2015 case. “Whenever there is a sensitive death investigation, especially involving minors, we examine past incidents connected to the family. This does not mean there is a connection,” an official said.

Legal experts note that reviewing historical records is a standard investigative practice and does not automatically imply suspicion in the present case.

Public and Social Reaction

The revelation of the earlier suicide has fueled debate on social media, with many questioning whether deeper family issues existed. Authorities and child-welfare experts have cautioned that speculation can be harmful, particularly when investigations are ongoing and facts remain unconfirmed.

Counsellors have been deployed in the residential society and schools attended by the sisters to support students and residents affected by the tragedy.

What Happens Next

Police said the direction of the investigation will depend on forensic findings, digital evidence, and post-mortem reports. If any evidence suggests abetment or external influence, appropriate legal action will follow.

For now, officials reiterate that the 2015 suicide case and the current deaths are being treated as separate matters, unless evidence indicates otherwise.
